Leo Ladefian lladefian@gmail.com of Department of City Planning and Tonio Andrade <emoryprof@gmail.com> shared the following map from City of Decatur GA- Government and Decatur Active Living regarding the new trail in Dearborn Park by the PATH Foundation! We’d like to thank greta.demayo@kaizencollaborative.com, Ed McBrayer <Edwin@pathfoundation.org> for devising a plan that overrides DeKalb County Recreation, Parks & Cultural Affairs and thus they are working without It’s In DeKalb. Ed McBrayer rightly believes that an 18 year old study is sufficient and that there is no need to make an actual physical walk through of the area. Nor is necessary to to speak to citizens of DeKalb outside of City of Decatur because of the 18-year old study.
The portion of the trail along Deerwood wouldn’t need the consent of the owner at 1441 Deerwood due to Path’s agreement. Attached below you’ll see the home in question. Georgia State Government Environmental Protection Division is awaiting approval on the 5 bridges that are planned for this area and the clear cutting most of the trees in the area. 11Alive FOX 5 Atlanta WSB-TV For more information contact Greta DeMayo 404.626.3519. Per DeKalb County Commissioner Kathie Gannon and DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson, DeKalb County Parks and Rec and the City of Decatur, there are no current plans for the Dearborn spark Trail. Much to our dismay. the redevelopment of the Blue Sky Condos into 300 homes in the Midway Woods neighborhood is still proceeding and according to Nextdoor has or will soon break ground.
You May want to follow up with the developer to better clarify their plans for accuracy. However, if you do receive an official update please notify us as we are as excited as you are! If you feel the park is poorly maintained we would love for your assistance in volunteering.
