In December 2016, Friends of Dearborn Park proudly dedicated our very own Little Free Library. Tucked along the trails and greenery of Dearborn Park in the Midway Woods neighborhood of Decatur, GA, this humble book-sharing box has become a beloved fixture for our community. Though it’s been moved a few times to accommodate trail improvements and park upgrades, it still stands tall—encouraging park-goers of all ages to pause, take a book, leave a book, and share the joy of reading.

Our Little Free Library isn’t just about books; it’s about building community. Located in the heart of one of DeKalb County’s most treasured green spaces, it represents what Dearborn Park is all about: connection, stewardship, and discovery. Whether you’re out for a morning walk, letting the kids explore the playground, or simply enjoying the quiet beauty of the forested trails, the Little Free Library invites you to slow down and dive into a new story.
Dearborn Park itself has long been a central feature of the Midway Woods neighborhood. Spanning over 7 acres, the park offers passive green space, walking trails, a creek, playground areas, and plenty of shade from towering trees. Over the years, Friends of Dearborn Park has organized cleanups, plantings, and improvements—all with the goal of preserving the natural charm of this hidden gem in Decatur. The Little Free Library is a natural extension of these efforts, providing an added touch of enrichment for visitors young and old.
Whether you’re a longtime Midway Woods resident or discovering Dearborn Park for the first time, we invite you to stop by, grab a book, and leave a little magic behind for the next reader. Here’s to many more years of sharing stories in the heart of our community!
Happy reading!
